- Oakton and American alumna Keira D’Amato ran 15:04 in a 5k time trial in Richmond, a time which, in a race, would have put her seventh among women over 35 and met the Olympic qualfiier.
- Montgomery Parks will be removing hazardous trees along the Capital Crescent Trail 8 am-4 p.m. until Friday, June 19. The trail will remain open.
- Beach Drive in D.C.’s Rock Creek Park will remain closed to through traffic north of Broad Branch Road thorugh July 24, though portions north of Joyce Road are open to allow access to picnic areas.
- The expanded road closures on Sligo Creeek Parkway and Beach Drive in Montgomery County Friday-Sunday will last until at least Labor Day.
- All NOVA Parks bathrooms are now open.
- All water fountains along the W&OD Trail, aside from the ones near the Broad Street bridge in Falls Church and Sunset Hills in Reston, are now operating.

- The Montgomery County Council voted to approve $54.9 million to replace the tunnel carrying the Capital Crescent Trail under Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. The tunnel is due to open in 2026, three years after completion of the Purple Line station, which will occupy the previous tunnel.
- Beach Drive and Ross Drive in Rock Creek Park will remain closed to traffic through June 8.

- The National Park Service has extended the usual weekend closure of most of Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park to traffic throughout the rest of April. Roads in Anacostia Park and Fort Dupont Park will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day until April 30.
- Montgomery Parks is closing Little Falls Parkway between, Massachusetts Avenue and Arlington Road (River Road will be open midway), and Beach Drive, between Knowles Avenue and Connecticut Avenue (Cedar Lane is open midway) to traffic between Fridays at 9 am to Sundays at 6 p.m. Sligo Creek Parkway is closed on the same schedule between University Boulevard and Fores Glen Road (with Dennis Avenue open midway) and Piney Branch Road to Old Carroll Avenue (with Maple Avenue open midway).

With the Virginia outdoor track season canceled, the District Track Club is sponsoring a competition for high school teams to compile their training and performances, and will hold three competitions where time trials will be scored against each other at the end of the month. Arlington’s Mike Wardian ran 262.53 miles to win the Quarantine Backyard Ultra, a competition among runners completing 4.1667-mile loops every hour. He ran for 63 hours. More from Outside.

- Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich did not include any money in his budget proposal for the county’s for a tunnel to carry the Capital Crescent Trail under Wisconsin Avenue.
- The Marine Corps Marathon has permanently banned a 55-year-old woman from its race series after an investigation showed she had cut several race courses over four years. A consistent absence of on-course photos and timing mat data helped the race organization come to that conclusion.
- St. John’s College High School’s Desmond Dunham was named the National Federation of High School Associations Coaches Association’s girls’ track and field national coach of the year.
- Dunham and Gonzaga College High School’s John Ausema were named cross country coach of the year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Loudoun Valley’s boys and girls team finished 10th at Nike Cross Nationals Dec. 7 in Portland, Ore. West Springfield’s Sean Stuck finished 104th in 16:19.
