Run for Roses 5K

Wheaton Regional Park
2000 Shorefield Road
Wheaton, Maryland 20902

Run for Roses is a 5K event for women only and is part of the Maryland Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Women’s Distance Festival (WDF) Grand Prix Series. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in this celebration of women’s running that began in 1979 as part of the quest to add women’s distance events to the Olympic Games. All participants will receive a long-stemmed rose at the finish line.

The 5K course begins and ends in the Pine Lake Parking Lot, close to the playground. After a short run through the neighborhood streets, the course winds through the rolling trails of Wheaton Regional Park. There will be one water stop along the course.

After the race, join us in the finish festival for refreshments, prizes, and fun! Top individual Open and Masters finishers and team finishers in the Mother / Daughter and Grandmother / Granddaughter competitions will receive awards.

There will also be a free .25-mile kids run. The run is free, but participants must register in advance.

Registration for the 5K is $30 plus fees as of 2/26/25 but will increase as the race date approaches.
